You Don’t Have to Earn Your Space: The Truth About Reclaiming Yourself
Jun 18, 2025Have you ever looked around at your life — your job, your relationships, your home — and thought, “Why does it still feel like something’s missing?”
You’re not alone. So many of the women I work with are outwardly successful. They’ve built beautiful lives on paper. And yet, under the surface, they feel... hollow. Disconnected. Like they’re playing a role that no longer fits.
If that sounds familiar, let me say this first: you don’t have to earn your space in this world by performing, over-functioning, or proving your worth. You’re already enough. And the journey home to yourself doesn’t start with doing more — it starts with remembering.
The Disconnect Is Not a Failure — It’s a Signal
When you feel like you’ve lost yourself, it’s not because you’re broken. It’s because you’ve adapted. You’ve learned how to survive in a world that often rewards hustle over wholeness.
Maybe you became the achiever, the helper, the one who always holds it together. Maybe you’ve spent years trying to be “good” — the good mom, good partner, good employee, good friend.
But somewhere along the way, the real you got buried beneath all that performing. The parts of you that were creative, intuitive, soft, wild — they didn’t feel safe to express.
The Nervous System Truth
From a clinical lens, this isn’t just mindset — it’s biology. When your nervous system is stuck in survival mode, it prioritizes safety over self-expression. That means you’ll default to patterns like people-pleasing, perfectionism, or numbing out.
The good news? That’s not a permanent state. You can regulate. You can rewire. You can come home to your body and your truth.
The Spiritual Truth
Now here’s the part most people skip: this isn’t just a psychological journey — it’s a spiritual one.
There’s a version of you who already exists — the one who’s grounded, radiant, aligned. She’s not someone you have to become. She’s someone you get to remember.
She knows what she wants. She trusts her timing. She doesn’t abandon herself for acceptance.
Coming Home: 3 Practices to Reconnect
Want to begin the journey of remembering yourself? Start here:
- Grounding Ritual: Light a candle, close your eyes, and place one hand on your heart. Ask yourself: “What do I need to feel safe today?”
- Future-Self Letter: Write a note from the version of you who feels most at peace. What does she want you to know?
- Energy Check-In: Ask, “What am I doing out of pressure, and what am I doing out of alignment?” Let the answers be honest.
You Don’t Need to Earn Your Space
Let this be your reminder: you don’t have to earn your peace. You don’t have to explain your boundaries. You don’t have to justify your desires.
The version of you who feels at home in her own body and life? She’s already within you. You’re not building her — you’re unveiling her.
